I have made flat plan, of what my magazine front cover is going to look like. I have used alot of variety, with the different article, pugs, and images, from the images that I have taken and is going to use for my magazine. My main image, is going to be in the centre, and is inline with the rule of thirds. I'm also going to be using a strapline, at the bottom of the page, to give more information to the readers, of what is going to be inside the magazine. Since my magazine, is mainly a music magazine, instead of fashion, I only included one piece of advertisment, of fashion, so that my target audience of teenage to adult women, who love fashion and POP/Indie music, will want to buy the product. I will also use some seconadry images, of of my own, to show what the article insider, to show the readers what's going on in the article.

I plan to
have ‘’Personal’’, as my name of the magazine. I wanted ‘’Personal'' as my main
title, to give a sense to the audience that this magazine, will have feeling
that it’s personal to them, and make it like it has all the information they
want to see or read in the magazine. I plan to have my magazine, be based on
POP/Indie music. 'Top of the Pops' is a good example of the type of subgenre
and idea of what my magazine, is going to present to the readers.
My primary
target audience will be mostly teenagers, to adults, as the magazine wouldn't
be as suitable for young children. For my magazine, I will be producing a
hybrid, of Music/fashion. The reason it's based more on the teenage, to adult
side, is because, there's going to be some fashion articles inside which young
children wouldn't really be interested in, and most of the fashion, will be
more on the dare-ish fashion from top brands, such as Top shop, Urban
Outfitters etc., which young children wouldn’t' be interested in. Also since young
children listen to some pop groups, I don’t think it'll be suitable, as some of
the celebrities that are going to be inside E.G. Miley Cyrus, who doesn't show
a suitable image for young children, but to teenagers and adults mainly, since
she is also in the same age group. Also Beaur Media Group will be who publishes
my magazine.
The features
that I will be including, in my magazine are competitions, such as, to win a
student voucher to Top Shop, etc. Also I will be mainly putting up music ranks/music
charts, to show the reader where their favourite artists and bands are up to in
the music charts, and by them engaging with the artist/bands. I will also put
up different website links, so readers can use their social networking sites,
to keep in contact with the celebrity or company.
My magazine
will be distributed on the web, as everyone in this generation, who is a
teenager, will have some kind of contact with the internet, and they seem to
use more internet than buying a magazine at a store, so it will fit well for
the teenage viewers. Finally, the cost
of my magazine will be a fair amount, so that it would be easier for
teens/young adults, to buy a magazine daily. I’m thinking around the price of
£1-£2, for my magazine, so that it’s fair, and that it’s not too pricey but
also not too cheap.

Definaition of Sub Genre: A subcategory within a particular genre.
These 5 magazine front covers all show a sub genre on their magazine. The pop magazine, is mainly music, but has a subgenre of fashion. The beauty magazine is mainly beauty, but also has a subgenre of fashion. and pop magazine, is mainly pop but has a subgenre of Sport for comic relief.
Definition of Genre: A category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter.
These 5 images of different magazine front covers, are all examples of different genres. For example, there is a fashion magazine, beauty magazine, Rock magazine, POP magazine, and a Sport magazine. There are lot's of others but these seem to be the main magazines that are used.
For
my mast head, I wanted to make some ideas on what I could use and how it is
going to relate to my magazine and target audience. For this first one, I
thought that it would be simple, but since my magazine, is going to be Music
based with different genres of music, and also different fashion ideas, that it
was abit too simple.
For
this font, for the mast head, I thought, that I was going to use a patriotic
theme, as it could represent the British and American singers/bands, with the red,
blue and white. I thought this would be suitable with a target audience of
female and male.
For
this font, I went with the all black, and the simple format and a slant, for
the target audience of unisex, but more on the rock, casual side, to the
magazine, if I was making my magazine, in that theme. Also it could relate to
some of the fashion I might use, instead of a high statement fashion that is
going around now, and so I thought that this would be appropriate.
For this font, is more towards the target audience of female's, I thought it would be appropriate to make this idea of the pink colour, and fancy font, so that it was obvious to the readers that this is a girl magazine. Also it could help, with the fact that my magazine is also fashion based, so it could have an inspiration to the fashion that could be taking place.
For
this font, I wanted to try and make it unisex, incase I wanted to add some male
fashion, or maybe for the more rock types of genre, and I also added the red on
the first letter ''P'', so that it would stand out, and that it would be
appealing for the females. Also it works for the music genre if I was doing a
rock themed magazine.
For
this font, I wanted to make it unusual, as if you wouldn't expect it to be a
music or fashion magazine. By this I used the colour green, as it is an unusual
colour to have for a magazine.
Iam also thinking of using this photo that I took, because it clearly shows the band ''The Beatles'' who are very popular in the music industry, and with a guitar in the background will, make the read think that the article will be about the beatles and will make them want to buy the magazine, to see what it is about.
I'm also going to use this photo, as one of my secondary images for the contents, as it shows the reader the audience dancing, but you can't see the artist. so it'll make them wonder who they are dancing to. I thought this would be appropriate at it looks very crowed and that it looks like a suitable area for a music event.
I'm using this picture, for my magazine, to use to show, how busy the festival was, for an artist at Wake stock. I want to use this, to make the reader interested in what is going on, and why it's so busy.
I'm thinking of using this picture, to use for the secondary images, to help show the different gig's and events that happened at a festival.
For this contents page, you can see that the 3 images around the sides of the page, are all images, of artists/bands of different music, will show the reader, what will be inside the magazine, and will give them an insider of what it's about, so they will have to buy the magazine to see what it's about. The title on the page, is very plain and simple, which suggests that it's very classic, and the red writing underneath the title, will stand out, as it is on a white background, and it will show that the magazine, will still have an interest in music, and it shows that it will be important to people who love music. All the contents and the page numbers are on the left hand side of the page, with small description underneath it, to give the reader more of an insider on what the story is going to be about inside, and the reader will want to want to buy the magazine to read it. Also there is a close up of Lana Del Rey, which will make the reader focus more on the picture, because it doesn't show her whole, face and since her face is full of blood, people will want to know why she has it on her face and will want to read about it. Also the red around the whole page, make the page numbers stand out, also the fact that the magazine logo 'Q' is also in red so it goes with the magazine colour scheme. Also another reason why the red is very important, is because, some of the small paragraph at the top of the page, is in read which will indicate to the reader that it is an important part of the text, and will take it stand out from the white background.

I pulled out a survey for atleast 10 poeple in my class or anyone who answerd on twitter. I carried out these results to help me with what I should put or involve in my magazine. After I got answers and results from the 10 poeple I asked, I developed them into these bar hcarts to help me see what poeple have chosen to see what is going to be on my magazine.
For the first,
question, ''What is your gender?'', there seems to be an even amount of female
and males, so therefore I would have to decide if I want my magazine to be
mainly based on the female population, or the male, or possibly both, but I
would have to include, fashion that males would want to wear.
For the second
question on my survey, ''What is your age?'', all of the answers were around
the ages of 10-20 years, which I will have to make my magazine, suitable for
the teenage, or coming up to teenage years. This will also help me decide what
kind of generation, I can base my music and fashion choices I will want to
include in my music.
For the third
question on my survey, ''What radio station do you listen to the most?'', the
majority of my results are people who listen to Capital FM, which is more around
the POP/Indie side, which is what I was thinking of putting on my magazine,
making the readers more interested, but still keeping the other radio stations
on too, but have it more based around Capital FM sort of music. This also
didn't with the forth question ''What genre of Music do you like?'', with
people who mostly listen to rock, so I’m going to try to include some pop/indie
and rock into my magazine.
For the fifth
question from my survey,'' How much are you willing to spend on the
magazine?'', Most of my results are coming towards to range of £1-£3, as most
of the population will be mainly teenage girls and boys, who wouldn't want to
spend allot on the magazine.
For the sixth
question from my survey, ''What specials do you want to see on my magazine?''
Most of the results are aimed towards V.I.P Tickets and backstage passes, as
allot of people will want to see their favourite artists, and make them want to
buy the magazine so they can see more about it inside.
For the seventh question
rom my survey,'' What social Networks do you use?'' All of the choices have
been answered but the most chosen was Instagram and Twitter, as most of their
favourite music artist, and bands have these apps, and I think i will include
these, with photos and quotes from what they have said to turn it into an
article, and make them want to buy the magazine even more.
For the eighth
question on my survey,'' What features would you want to see on the magazine?''
Most of the results are aimed towards the interviews of bands, so they can get
some information about the bands/artist, so they feel up to date with them.
For the ninth
question from my survey, ''What would you like to see as adverts ''The majority
of the results are mainly, Clothing, so I will be making adverts based on clothing
so people can get student discounts on their favourite clothing stores/brands.
Finally for the last
question from my survey, ''What is your favourite band?'' There were allot of people
who put their own bands as their favourite. Since allot of the bands are Rock
themed, I will try to use as many bands they have put, and use them as
secondary images, to show that their favourite bands are in the magazine and
they will want to buy it.

This
is the finished look of my ‘Aquinas’ contents page. Again, I wanted to keep the
contents page, looking very busy and have allot of varieties to look forward
too. The editor’s letter is at the bottom of the page, on top of the very noticeable
guitar. I tried to make it sound like the style of the magazine rather than how
I actually speak, but still wanted to readers to know who they are reading from
and get an understanding of why I made the magazine. Also I tried to make it
sound like I was a woman, as my magazine is mainly focused on a target audience
of a female viewer. The largest picture on the contents page is the guitar,
which means that it is the main feature of the magazine; ad is also a completion
to win a free guitar, which is great for people who love music, seeing as this
is a music/fashion magazine.
Also
under each image, there is a number next to it, to give the reader a better
navigation, to where the article is in the magazine. I have also put it on the
left hand side of the page, with a small description of the article, so that
the viewers have a short summary of the article and decide whether they want to
read the article. There are also different pictures link in with the music
genre, and will also allow the reader to see a glance at who will be featured
in the magazine. I have also used, red as the main colour scheme for the
contents page, as it makes the headlines and the features title, stand out for
the audience to make the contents pages to look very clear for the reader to
see and locate where the articles are. The contents are split into sections, so
the reader has a clear view on what are on the contents page. There is also a
small advertisement, for a 10% discount of TopShop, which will also attract
younger female girls who are in college and need clothes for college, and will
want to buy the magazine, so they can see more of will be said about the advertisement.
In the end, this is finished completed Magazine front cover for my magazine. I think that this front cover is very suitable for the readers and with all the different colours that have been involved like the red, will attract attention to the viewers for them to buy the magazine. I have included a Top Shop student discount as it said in my results from the questionnaire, that most people shop at Top Shop, that it will make the reader turn to the page where the information is. I think i successfully, made this cover very observant and full of activities and content. As
you can see from the front of my magazine, that I have use many different
varieties to look forward too on my magazine. For example, the promo's and pugs
that are inserted onto my magazine, have different artist's that are music that
the readers will most likely like and would like to read.
I
wanted to use a picture from, a student from college, to use for my magazine,
because since it’s for my college, I thought that it would be appropriate and suitable
for my magazine as it’s made for a college view. Also the image is in the right
rule of thirds so the audience is attracted to the person who is on the front
of the magazine. For my target audience being a female audience from ages
around 12-28, I wanted to make the front cover, more girlie, with the famous
celebrities such as Beyonce and Bruno Mars, as it will attract to the female
viewers more than the male. Also it will bring in attention to the reader as it
mentions different adverts and specials on the front of it having celebrity
posters inside the magazine.
The
colour scheme for my magazine, will be mainly, red, white, blue and black,
since my college is mainly, white, red and blue. I wanted to use the red for some of the
adverts, to make them stand out more for the viewers so that it will make them
want to buy the magazine. The article in the coloured star under the mast head
is large, suggesting that it could be the most important article. I have also
used a pull out quote, to help with the publicity of the magazine, when it sais
‘’Win Katy Perry tickets and V.I.P backstage passes’’ to help draw attention to
the reader and to make them want to go to that particular page so they can see
what the competition is about and will make them want to buy the magazine and
to also attract more to the female audience and give them an indication that
this is a female based magazine. Finally I have also put the price range at the
top right hand corner of the magazine, in blue with a white background, to make
it stand out to the audience, and to show the reader how much the magazine is
worth.

The artist in this article, who is the main feature, is someone who is extremely well known in the music industry, there are barely any clothes that she is wearing which may suggest that she is someone who doesn't care about what people thinking about her unusual appearance.
This vintage old colour scheme of this page, fit's well with the red. The red is highlighted to get the reader's attention and is to make it look more interesting and less boring will it just going to be black and white. making it more easy and interesting for readers to want to read. Such as the letter ''L'' that is big, bold and in red, which is also the first letter if the artist's name ''Lady GaGa'' and also to go with the magazines logo at the bottom right hand corner of the page.
The main title fit’s in really well the image in on the page,
because the whole page gives it this fancy, old fashioned feeling, since the
image is in black and white and nothing dramatic seems to be going on in the
picture, which gives the article a very suttle look. Also the columns in this article seem to be well structured and simple, which fit's in well with the theme of a sophisticated look. The ''S'' at the start of one of the paragraphs, indicates the start of the important part of the article.
